Dr. Rehan Ul Haq, an alumnus of AIT with a PhD in Natural Resources Management (SERD, 2018), recently delivered a thought-provoking TEDx talk titled “What About the Overlooked? The Hidden Bias in Biodiversity Conservation.”
In his talk, Dr. Rehan explored how conservation priorities are often influenced by emotions and cultural values, leading to a focus oncharismatic species while neglecting those that are less appealing but equally vital for sustaining healthy ecosystems. His insights shed light on the importance of addressing hidden biases to ensure more inclusive and effective biodiversity conservation strategies.
Dr. Rehan currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Wildlife & Ecology at the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Pakistan.
